Mentoring your apprentice

We know that mentoring is important, but how do we do it? What does a good mentor look like? In this workshop you will discover the day-to-day ins and outs of how to mentor your apprentice at work. This workshop is specifically designed for employees and supervisors whose job is to coach and mentor apprentices. At the end of this session you will:

  • Understand what best practice mentoring looks like
  • Explore how to mentor your apprentice
  • Discover mentoring across different generations
  • Understand the typical challenges apprentice’s face
  • Practice tips and techniques to mentor effectively

Gen Y coaching Gen Y

It didn’t seem long ago that they were the apprentice, now their supervising younger apprentices coming through the ranks. What many forget is that skilled trades people aren’t always the best managers or supervisors. Why? Because it’s a different skill in itself. However, it’s a skill that can be taught and taught quickly with the right tips and techniques from the research. This workshop is specifically designed for the younger generation supervising new apprentices. At the end of this session you will:

  • Explore the stereotypes of Gen Y
  • Understand the tensions between Gen Y coaching Gen Y
  • Discover some tried and tested tips and techniques to develop your supervising skills
  • Practice supervising effectively

Courageous conversations

There will always be times when we need to have courageous conversations with our apprentices. Whether it’s be around how they’re performing, their attitude or even their skills. While no-one looks forward to these conversations there are certain tried and tested techniques that can help you have those courageous conversations more easily and efficiently. At the end of this session you will:

  • Discover the types of courageous conversations that arise with apprentices
  • Explore a best practice framework for conducting different types of courageous conversations
  • Practise having courageous conversations
  • Plan a strategy for conversations you need to have in the future.

Happy boss, happy apprentice

How do you manage stress and conflict at work? This session is designed for employer who want to great bosses. At the end of the session you will:

One on one coaching

Whether it’s for you, or your apprentice. Engaging in a one on one private, confidential coaching conversation from an outside expert offers a chance for you or your apprentice to discuss specific challenges and opportunities as well as learn about best practices techniques on how to manage yourself and reach your desired goals. Whether you want a one off conversation to discuss a difficult situation, or a regularly monthly catch-up to explore how things are going. One to one coaching is ideal for those wanting a fresh perspective, individual coaching and strategies to increase performance.
